Our Guide to Hardware
High up on my list of favourite things to source for clients is actually hardware - it does a great job of taking cabinetry and millwork to the next level. We have put together our top tips and comprehensive guide of our top places when sourcing to help you find the perfect hardware for your space.
Top 3 Hardware Tips
Don’t be afraid to mix types of hardwares. Take a kitchen for example, you often have different types of cabinets/locations and functions. This is the perfect time to mix up the hardware! Oho Interiors does a great job of this with the below kitchen design - keeping it consistent with finish and style but mixing knobs, pulls and bin pulls really elevates and adds visual interest.
2. If you want to switch out your existing hardware but the holes won’t lineup with something new, consider using backplates to your advantage. This is a clever way to update your look and switch things up, without needing to fully replace your cabinets.
3. We are all for mixing metals when it is done intentionally and purposefully. Our rule of thumb is to pick two that compliment each other. This can help break up a space so one finish isn’t being repeated in all fixtures!
